Black Law Students Association
The mission of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys, who excel academically, succeed professionally, and influence the community positively. The BLSA at Howard University, School of Law is so-named the Langston Chapter of the Mid-Atlantic Region (MABLSA), accredited by the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA).
The objectives of the BLSA include fostering solidarity between law students of the African Diaspora, through interaction and networking with students, faculty, and alumni; working cohesively with the student body, the faculty advisor(s), and the administration to promote issues of social importance and instill a sense of purpose to lawyering; and addressing the pressing Civil Rights issues of the day.
The BLSA also seeks to create a greater awareness of community needs through chapter initiatives, and to provide educational and technical opportunities to hone professional competencies and legal skills.
The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) shall not discriminate against any individual or group based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, national origin, nationality, race, religion, sex, nor sexual orientation.
