Gina F. Adams, Howard Law Alumna, Named Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at FedEx Corporation
Howard University School of Law alumna Gina F. Adams has been appointed as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of FedEx Corporation. Adams, who has been with FedEx since 1992, will oversee all legal, security, and government affairs operations for the company globally. She succeeds Mark R. Allen, who will transition into a senior advisor role until his retirement at the end of the year.
Adams holds a J.D. from Howard University School of Law, where she remains actively engaged as a member of the Board of Visitors. She also serves on various prestigious boards, including the National Air and Space Museum and Energy Corporation.
Her career at FedEx has been marked by significant leadership in international government and regulatory affairs, most recently serving as Corporate Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs in Washington, DC. She has played a pivotal role in shaping policies and advocating FedEx's interests at the highest levels. Prior to her time at FedEx, Adams worked in legal roles at the Department of Transportation.
“Gina Adams exemplifies the excellence that Howard University School of Law produces,” said Dean Roger A. Fairfax, Jr. “Her leadership and impact at FedEx and in the legal and government affairs space are a testament to her skill and expertise. We are incredibly proud to count her among our distinguished alumni.”
Adams’ appointment further enhances her already remarkable career, which includes recognition as one of Washingtonian Magazine's most influential people in 2021 and multiple awards for her contributions to the business and nonprofit communities.
“My career in transportation and logistics began right after graduating from Howard University School of Law, when I became an attorney for the U.S. Department of Transportation working in the General Counsel’s office,” Adams said in an LinkedIn post. “In 1992, I joined FedEx as a managing attorney, focusing on international regulatory affairs. I knew I was joining a global company with incredible reach, a strong culture, and significant opportunities for career advancement. I am deeply honored to continue serving this great company in this new role, and I am profoundly grateful for the kind messages of congratulations I’ve received from colleagues in D.C., Memphis, and around the world.”
FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam shared his confidence in Adams' new role, highlighting her expertise and insights, which he believes will be crucial as FedEx continues to evolve and navigate complex global challenges.
