Howard University School of Law hosted a Meet and Greet event with ABA President Mary Smith,  hosted by Hon. Tiffany Williams Brewer, Vice Chair, ABA Litigation Section/Assistant Professor of Law and Richard Williams, HUSL SBA Representative to the ABA.

Mary Smith is President of the American Bar Association and is the first Native American woman in this role.Mary is an independent board member and former CEO of a $6 billion national healthcare organization, the Indian Health Service. She currently serves on the board of PTC Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTCT), a global biopharmaceutical company and on the board of HAI Group, a leading member-owned insurance company for the affordable housing industry. She is also vice chair of the VENG Group, a national consulting firm.

Students, faculty, administration and staff that attended and asked thoughtful questions. I want to particularly commend the student attendees who were the consummate professionals and carried themselves as future bar presidents themselves. I'm extremely proud to be a part of this sacred community and look forward to hosting future forums with bar leaders.

The American Bar Association is the nation’s largest voluntary association of American lawyers. Founded in 1878, the ABA represents the national voice of the legal profession whose mission is to promote justice, professional excellence, and respect for the law. For more than 100 years, the ABA Journal has been a trusted source of information for decision-makers and legal experts on the trends, people and economic forces that shape the practice of law.
