Visiting Student Application and Information

Summer semester visiting application deadline:  May 10th
Fall semester visiting application deadline July 1st
Spring semester visiting application deadline November 15th

Students from ABA-approved law schools can attend Howard University School of Law for one semester or one academic school year. Visiting student status is granted on the basis of the applicant’s law school performance at their home institution and the availability of space in the requested courses at Howard.

Due to the short period of time that a visiting student is in residence at Howard, participation in the On Campus Interviewing (OCI) process is reserved for full time and transfer students. However, visiting students are able to use the other resources of the Career Services Center.

  • Letter of Good Standing from current law school
  • Visiting application
  • A statement expressing reasons for visiting
  • $60 nonrefundable – check or money order payable to Howard University School of Law

     

Qualifications beyond Completion of Law School to Practice Law in the United States

In addition to a bar examination, there are character and fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction.
