While at Howard Law, Berry worked as a law clerk for DTE Energy Co., Detroit’s largest utility company. He also worked at Edison Electric Institute, which represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. As a summer associate in the Houston office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Berry structured business transactions focused on renewable energy where.
Throughout his matriculation at Howard Law, Berry was relentless in his journey toward achieving academic excellence. He maintained placement in the top of his class, in part, by earning the highest grade in nine courses, most notably in his Real-Property and Corporations classes. Others classes in which he excelled included Criminal Law, Constitutional Law I, Legal Methods, Legal Writing II, Alternate Dispute Resolution, Commercial Paper, and Federal Income Tax. He simultaneously completed hundreds of hours of public service initiatives.
Berry served as a legal writing research assistant and teaching assistant, as well as a Howard Law Journal senior research editor, advising students as they researched and wrote their own journal articles on various legal and policy issues.
After graduating from Howard Law, Berry matriculated at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, in lieu of an associate position with Kirkland & Ellis, in order to work with the world's foremost policymakers and business leaders on renewable energy and electricity policy and development. His passion for investment management, start-ups, and renewable energy development has subsequently evolved into a lucrative and innovative career path.
