Lemuel Howard, a 3L student at Howard University School of Law, was selected as a 2018 Squire Patton Boggs Foundation Fellow.
Howard spent his summer as a legal intern for the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project in Washington, DC. As an intern, he was responsible for developing investigation strategies and researching trial materials in the pursuit of exonerating wrongfully convicted persons. This included going into the field and interviewing witnesses who were present at the scene of the crime, locating witnesses who may have recanted their testimony from the initial trial, and using DNA evidence to determine the guilt/innocence of the client if the case so required. This fall, Howard is participating in Howard Law’s Fair Housing Clinic. Howard plans to pursue a career in public interest and civil rights work after graduation.
