Tamiko N.W. Watkins is an Assistant General Counsel (Administration) at the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). MCC is an innovative and independent U.S. foreign aid agency that is helping lead the fight against global poverty. Mrs. Watkins manages both attorneys and non-attorney staff and serves as a legal and policy advisor to officials and employees on issues which impact MCC operations and programs. Mrs. Watkins’ legal practice includes, but is not limited to, employment law, privacy law, security and information law, and litigation. Mrs. Watkins also serves as the MCC Chief FOIA Officer.
Prior to joining MCC, Mrs. Watkins was a Senior Trial Attorney for the Department of the Navy where she represented the Navy in litigation of a broad range of legal issues. She also worked as an Assistant Counsel for the Navy where she served as a legal advisor, provided training on legal topics, and litigated cases before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board. Prior to entering the federal sector, Mrs. Watkins worked as a Trial Attorney for Allstate Insurance Company and served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas.
Mrs. Watkins has notable alternative dispute resolution experience. Presently, she is an Arbitrator for the District of Columbia Bar - Attorney/Client Arbitration Board. She has also served as Mediator for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and an Arbitrator for the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas.
Mrs. Watkins received her Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Hampton University. Mrs. Watkins also earned a Master of Laws degree in Litigation and Dispute Resolution from the George Washington University Law School. She is admitted to the Pennsylvania and District of Columbia bars, a member of the American Bar Association and National Bar Association, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and an active participant in various community service initiatives.
