Howard Law Professor John Woods Appointed as Major League Baseball Arbitrator

Professor John Woods was recently selected by Major League Baseball Players Association and the Office of the Commissioner to serve as a salary arbitrator.  This assignment involves adjudicating salary disputes between Major League Baseball players and teams.  It will begin during the 2022 season.

Woods is the co-director of Howard University School of Law’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program.  His distinguished career in arbitration and dispute resolution spans over 20 years, providing services throughout the Americas, Europe, and Africa. He has served on prominent international and domestic panels such as the United Nations, American Arbitration Association, U.S. Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  Woods is also the former chief mediator and head of dispute resolution for the U.S. Federal Government, as well as a commissioner for the District of Columbia.
