The 1996 graduate of Howard University School of Law received Howard University’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009. After receiving the prestigious award, King continued to build on his reputation as a powerbroker and agent for William Morris Endeavor (WME). Then, in 2015, he started his own media company, Macro, to develop content—including feature films and television shows—for multicultural audiences. “The studios aren’t focused on it,” he said at the time. “There’s a huge void and a huge opportunity.”
In a recent article published in the New York Times, Charles King reiterated his vision for Macro: “The specific message I want to resonate,” he said, “is that people of color have stories tell.”
