Admissions

Welcome to the start of a journey that will test you academically and intellectually and nurture you socially and professionally.  At Howard University School of Law, we understand knowledge is found in textbooks and in the interactions of the different stakeholders of the institution; or as we label it, our family.  To foster a truly educational familial environment, we create situations where students, faculty, staff, and alumni interact and share in the value of all the law school offers. You will interact with world-renowned practitioners and some of today’s foremost legal scholars while gaining the skills to further make the legal system more accessible for all.

Howard is a national law school that embraces diversity and inclusiveness. Howard Law holds the distinction of graduating more African American attorneys than any other law school in the nation. And while we embrace and are poised to remain the flagship in producing attorneys of color, we seek to share the educational experience and richness that this institution offers with ethnically and culturally diverse individuals.  Our approximately 450 students are comprised of people from all walks of life,  varied socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation, and gender identity.  We have students from almost every US state and many foreign nations. We have third-generation law students and those that will be the first in their family to hold a jurist doctorate. We hope to learn from the experiences of each and every member of the Howard family so our graduates can better foster positive change in society.

We welcome your application and thank you for your interest in Howard University School of Law.
