The Howard Law ADR Program (the “ADR Program”) consists of domestic and international dispute resolution courses and programs offered by the School of Law. The ADR Program consists of:
Clinical courses;
Externship courses;
Doctrinal courses;
ADR Certificate program;
40-Hour Mediation Certificate training; and
Continuing legal education programs.
The ADR Program coordinates the Law School’s commitment to preparing students for lawyering in the 21st century. Through the ADR offerings, we assist students in understanding, developing, and mastering the principles and skills needed to resolve disputes using non-adjudicative dispute resolution forums and methods. These methods include, but are not limited to negotiation, arbitration, mediation, fact-finding, and conciliation. Program participants develop ADR skills through experiential learning in the following areas:
Workplace Disputes;
Commercial Disputes;
International Human Rights Investigations; and
ADR Systems in International Development Organizations.
